Job summary

Banana Shire Council is seeking an experienced team leader to support the Maintenance Supervisor in delivering road and drainage projects within the Works Program. You will lead maintenance crews, plan activities, supervise day‑to‑day tasks, and ensure safety and quality across works.

The role requires strong leadership, planning, and communication skills, plus a commitment to WHS, with the ability to manage resources and coordinate traffic management plans.

Qualifications

• C class driver's licence valid in Queensland.
• QLD General Safety Induction – White or Blue Card.
• HR class manual driver's licence (Desirable).
• Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision (Desirable).
• Implement Traffic Management Plans (ITMP) Competency (Desirable).
• Traffic Controller Competency (Desirable).
• Other relevant plant operator tickets (Desirable).

Responsibilities

• Lead road maintenance crews to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently, and to approved programs and standards.
• Plan, schedule and monitor road maintenance activities with allocation of resources.
• Undertake a broad range of road maintenance and construction activities including pavement and drainage works.
• Provide day‑to‑day leadership, training and safety guidance to staff.
• Supervise crews in Supervisor’s absence and monitor performance and reporting.
• Coordinate and monitor progress, identify risks and resource requirements.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and quality systems.
• Coordinate Traffic Control Plans and traffic management activities.
• Maintain plant, equipment and records; liaise with stakeholders.
