Job summary

FoodWorks Biloela is seeking an experienced Retail Manager to oversee store and cafe operations in Biloela, QLD. You will manage staff, purchasing, pricing, promotions and customer service, ensuring strong financial performance and high standards of service.

Qualifications

• AQF Diploma or higher in Business/Rood Retail Management.
• Minimum 1 year full-time relevant work experience, preferably in retail management.
• Strong leadership and management capabilities to supervise staff and maintain store operations.
• Experience with purchasing, stock management, pricing strategies and sales monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Determine product mix, stock levels and service standards to maximise sales.
• Plan and implement purchasing and pricing policies aligned to business objectives.
• Develop and execute promotional campaigns, catalogue promotions and social media marketing.
• Oversee daily retail operations of the supermarket and cafe facilities.
• Sell goods, handle customer enquiries and resolve issues to maintain service quality.
• Maintain accurate records including stock, sales and financial transactions.
• Prepare budgets, monitor revenue and expenditure, analyse performance and drive profitability.
• Coordinate staffing needs including recruitment, rostering and supervision of employees.
• Ensure compliance with WHS, food safety and consumer protection regulations.
• Manage store layout, merchandising and housekeeping for an attractive retail environment.
• Monitor stock turnover, liaise with suppliers and maintain relationships for timely supply.

Position Overview

FoodWorks Biloela is seeking an experienced and capable Retail Manager to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of its supermarket and associated cafe facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating retail activities, managing staff, overseeing stock and purchasing, implementing sales and marketing strategies, monitoring financial performance and ensuring efficient business operations while maintaining high standards of customer service.

Job role:

• Determining product mix, stock levels and service standards to meet customer demand and maximise the store's sales performance.
• Planning and implementing purchasing and pricing policies in accordance with business objectives and the operational guidelines.
• Developing and implementing promotional and advertising strategies to promote the store's products and services, including catalogue promotions, in-store campaigns and social media marketing.
• Managing the day-to-day retail operations of the supermarket and associated cafe facilities to ensure efficient business operations and quality customer service.
• Selling goods and services to customers, addressing customer enquiries and complaints, and ensuring appropriate standards of customer service are maintained.
• Maintaining accurate business records, including stock inventories, sales figures, financial transactions and other operational records.
• Preparing and managing budgets, monitoring revenue and expenditure, analysing financial performance and implementing strategies to achieve sales and profitability targets.
• Planning and coordinating staffing requirements, including recruitment, selection, training, work allocation, rostering and supervision of employees.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements, including workplace health and safety, food safety, consumer protection etc, where applicable.
• Overseeing store layout, merchandise presentation, visual merchandising and general housekeeping to maintain an attractive, safe and customer-friendly retail environment.
• Monitoring stock turnover, identifying purchasing requirements, negotiating with suppliers and maintaining effective supplier relationships to ensure the timely availability of merchandise.
• Establishing and maintaining business relationships with suppliers and other relevant stakeholders to support the store's commercial objectives and operational efficiency.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL REQUIRE:

• AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma, or higher qualification in Business Management, Retail Management, Business Administration or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 1 year of full-time relevant work experience, or equivalent, preferably in retail management or a similar retail establishment.
• Strong leadership and management capabilities, with the ability to organise, coordinate and supervise employees while maintaining efficient store operations.
• Demonstrated understanding of retail business operations, including purchasing, stock management, product selection, pricing strategies and sales performance monitoring.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to handle customer enquiries, resolve complaints and maintain positive relationships with customers, employees and suppliers.
• Proficiency in using point-of-sale (POS) systems, inventory management software, accounting systems and general computer applications.
• Knowledge of relevant retail legislation, workplace health and safety requirements, food safety standards and other regulatory obligations applicable to supermarket and associated cafe operations.
