Job summary

Handler Property Group is seeking a facilities manager to oversee a portfolio of retail assets across the Central Coast/Hunter region. The role involves coordinating planned and reactive maintenance, managing contractor services, and ensuring compliance with WH&S and regulatory obligations.

You will contribute to CAPEX and OPEX budgets, perform site inspections, and provide clear reporting on progress and risks. Regular travel across the portfolio is required, with a travel allowance provided.

Job description

Reporting to the Senior Portfolio Manager NSW, you will work closely with Property Managers across a range of assets and clients to keep properties safe, compliant and well maintained. Your remit includes planned and reactive maintenance, contractor service delivery, site inspections, maintenance expenditure and facilities reporting, with works coordinated around retail trading requirements. The role will include regular travel across the portfolio, with a travel allowance provided.

Key responsibilities

Support a portfolio across the Central Coast/Hunter region combining retail operational knowledge, strong organisation and productive contractor relationships

Coordinate planned and reactive maintenance across multiple assets

Manage contractor service delivery and maintain productive contractor relationships

Conduct site inspections and coordinate access while minimising disruption to trading

Develop and coordinate weekly, monthly and annual facilities plans across multiple assets

Contribute to capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operating expenditure (OPEX) budgets, including identifying works, obtaining quotations and providing cost estimates

Monitor expenditure and check invoices

Maintain work orders, service records, contractor documentation and action lists with clear reporting on progress, risks and outstanding issues

Keep clients, tenants, owners, contractors and internal stakeholders informed with timely, professional updates

Identify and escape site risks in accordance with relevant regulations, statutory maintenance obligations and WH&S requirements

About you

Demonstrated facilities management experience in retail assets or shopping centres, with an understanding of trading environments and the needs of retailers, tenants and customers

Strong organisational and planning skills with experience developing and coordinating facilities plans across multiple assets

Sound working knowledge of building services, preventative maintenance and reactive repairs

Experience contributing to CAPEX and OPEX budgets

Proven ability to build and maintain productive contractor relationships and address delays or incomplete works constructively

Attention to detail in maintaining work orders, service records and contractor documentation

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word

Experience using facilities management systems, maintenance platforms or work order systems

Working knowledge of relevant regulations, statutory maintenance obligations, WH&S requirements and industry standards

Ability and willingness to travel regularly across the Central Coast/Hunter portfolio

Current Driver's Licence and working vehicle
