Job summary

Hemingway's Brewery Port Douglas is seeking an experienced Casual Restaurant Team Leader to join our hands-on team. You will report to the Venue Manager and Restaurant Managers, opening/closing shifts, and lead service with on-call support available.

You’ll oversee FOH operations, organise staff, maintain service standards, and ensure RSA, food safety, WHS compliance. This role requires strong leadership, cash handling and exceptional guest service in a busy hospitality setting.

• Current Queensland RSA.

• Availability for evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Job description

Hemingway's Brewery Port Douglas is looking for an experienced Casual Restaurant Team Leader to join the crew. You'll work closely with and report directly to the Venue Manager and Restaurant Managers in a hands-on operational role. Once trained and signed off on systems and procedures, you'll be expected to confidently complete routine venue opening or closing shifts and lead the service without needing a senior manager standing beside you. You won't be left completely on your own - the Venue Manager and Restaurant Managers remain available and on call when support or escalation is needed.

Key responsibilities

Independently opening and/or closing the venue once fully trained

Completing opening and closing procedures and checklists

Acting as the senior FOH team member on routine shifts

Helping organise staff and allocate day-to-day service tasks

Keeping the restaurant and bar running smoothly during service

Leading by example on the floor and behind the bar

Providing friendly, efficient and professional guest service

About you

Experience as a Team Leader, Shift Leader, Senior F&B Attendant, Duty Manager, Junior Supervisor or comparable experience in a busy hospitality environment

Strong previous food and beverage experience

Confidence leading a small team during a shift

The maturity to work without constant management supervision

Good judgement and the ability to know when something needs escalating

A current Queensland RSA

Confidence handling cash and POS systems

Good communication and organisational skills

Availability across a hospitality roster including evenings, weekends and public holidays
