Colombo Social, part of Plate It Forward, is seeking an experienced Restaurant Manager to lead front‑of‑house operations in Enmore, Sydney. You will drive exceptional guest service, coach a diverse team and partner with the kitchen and wider operations to deliver strong commercial results.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years’ experience in a restaurant management or senior leadership role.
• Hands-on leadership style with ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
• Strong knowledge of food, wine and beverage service, confident guiding guests and supporting sales.
• Experience rostering, labour management and day-to-day restaurant operations.
• Clear communication, sound judgement and the ability to stay organised during busy services.
• Commitment to guest experience, team culture and high service standards.
• Current NSW RSA and availability to work nights and weekends.

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced, hands‑on Restaurant Manager to lead Colombo Social’s front‑of‑house operations and help the venue deliver excellent service, strong commercial results and a welcoming team culture.

You’ll lead the team through service, support their development and make sure our standards are reflected in every part of the guest experience. You’ll also work closely with the kitchen and Plate It Forward’s wider operations team to keep the venue running smoothly and contribute to its ongoing growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead front-of-house operations and set a warm, professional standard of service.
• Manage, support and develop the team through clear communication, coaching and regular feedback.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, performance and day‑to‑day team coordination.
• Prepare and manage rosters in line with business needs, team capability and labour targets.
• Monitor sales and service performance, including spend per head, and help the team meet venue goals.
• Build strong knowledge of the food, wine and beverage offering, and ensure the team can guide guests confidently.
• Maintain strong relationships between front of house, kitchen, bar and reservations teams.
• Handle guest feedback and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
• Oversee opening and closing procedures, cash handling and daily operational checks.
• Maintain venue presentation and ensure compliance with RSA, food safety, WHS and other relevant requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve service, team capability and venue operations.
• Support Colombo Social’s connection to Plate It Forward’s social purpose and employment pathways.

About you

• At least 2 years’ experience in a restaurant management or senior leadership role, ideally in a quality full‑service restaurant.
• A hands‑on leadership style and the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
• Strong knowledge of food, wine and beverage service, with confidence guiding guests and supporting sales.
• Experience with rostering, labour management and day‑to‑day restaurant operations.
• Clear communication, sound judgement and the ability to stay organised during busy services.
• A genuine commitment to guest experience, team culture and high service standards.
• Current NSW RSA and availability to work nights and weekends.

Knowledge of Sri Lankan food is not essential. We’ll provide training and are looking for someone who is genuinely interested in our menu and concept.
