Job summary

BHP is seeking a highly experienced Manager Resource Engineering for Copper SA in Adelaide, South Australia. You will lead resource engineering teams, translating strategic objectives into actionable plans and coordinating across functions to unlock safe, sustainable value across the mining value chain.

With strong technical and leadership credentials, you will guide governance, risk management and dependency integration while developing people and strengthening capability across the Copper SA

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering
• Underground mining experience and strong knowledge across the technical mining value chain
• Established leadership experience, including building team capability through coaching and mentoring
• Strong integration skills across technical disciplines, functions and operations
• Strong critical reasoning with the ability to understand technical concepts and make strategic decisions
• Well-developed business acumen and understanding of shareholder value drivers
• Strong communication, negotiation, stakeholder management and influencing skills

Responsibilities

• Provide senior leadership to Resource Engineering teams, supporting safe and effective planning and development of Copper SA's resources and infrastructure
• Translate corporate and longer-term business objectives into actionable plans
• Integrate across functions, operations and technical disciplines to address complex challenges and strengthen alignment
• Apply engineering concepts, solutions and governance across resource development and the design and planning of surface and subsurface systems
• Support evidence-based strategic decision making, balancing opportunities, priorities, resources and longer-term objectives
• Identify, assess and manage risk within BHP's risk management framework
• Maintain a strong operational interface, working closely with Copper SA assets to support delivery of safe, productive and sustainable outcomes
• Lead through change and strengthen organisational capability through effective people leadership, coaching and mentoring
