Job summary

BHP's Adelaide office is seeking a Principal Engineer Mechanical to provide technical leadership across Copper SA assets, including Olympic Dam, Carrapateena and Prominent Hill, ensuring safe, reliable operation. You will shape technical direction, manage asset integrity programs, and lead complex investigations, while mentoring engineers and aligning with BHP standards.

This role requires Chartered Professional Engineer status, extensive experience in fixed plant systems, and strong stakeholder

Qualifications

Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering is required or equivalent.
CPEng status with Engineers Australia or eligible for it.
Extensive experience in heavy industry and fixed plant mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and governance for mechanical engineering across Copper SA operations.
Approve designs, deviations and fitness-for-service assessments for critical assets.
Lead the development and uplift of mechanical engineering standards and governance frameworks.
Drive asset integrity programs including inspection strategies and remaining-life assessments.
Lead incident investigations and ensure lessons learned drive improvements.
Mentor engineers across multiple operations and influence stakeholders.
