Job summary

ISS is recruiting an experienced Chef to join our remote mining villages in Central Queensland. You will prepare high-quality meals in a fast-paced kitchen and support food safety, hygiene, and WHS standards to ensure excellent on-site dining for residents.

You will follow a 9 days on / 5 days off roster or 2 weeks on / 1 week off, reporting to the Head Chef/Village Manager. You will work with qualified chefs and mentor junior staff, contributing to a positive kitchen culture.

Qualifications

• Proven professional work experience as qualified chef (minimum 2–3 years).
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery recognised in Australia (or higher)
• Food Safety Certificate, or willingness to obtain.
• FIFO experience in a high-volume kitchen environment (desirable).
• Strong teamwork, communication skills, and ability to work under pressure.
• Knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP, and WHS requirements.
• Must pass a full Pre-Employment Medical Assessment and Drug & Alcohol Screen.
• Current Coal Board Medical and Standard 11 Certificate (highly desirable).
• Valid National Police Clearance within the last 12 months.
• Full working rights in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook high-quality meals consistently and efficiently.
• Support the kitchen team to maintain food safety, hygiene, and WHS standards.
• Assist with stock management, ordering, and kitchen operations.
• Collaborate with the Head Chef on menu execution and service improvements.
• Mentor junior kitchen staff and contribute to a positive team environment.
