NSW Health’s Blacktown Hospital ICU invites a Registered Nurse to deliver safe, high‑quality care to critically ill patients in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment.

In this role you will work with medical staff to provide evidence‑based nursing, supervise junior colleagues and participate in ongoing education and professional development within the Western Sydney Local Health District.

Qualifications

  • Recent clinical experience in critical care nursing in an acute facility.
  • Application of evidence-based practice and critical thinking to patient care.
  • Ability to lead, supervise, delegate, and negotiate to deliver quality nursing care.
  • Effective clinical communication through IT, written and verbal means with diverse people.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care tailored to each patient's needs.
  • Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition and make timely clinical decisions.

  • Advocate for patients and families with professionalism and cultural respect.

What you'll be doing

As a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit, you will provide safe, high-quality, person-centred care to critically ill patients while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve the best possible health outcomes.

Deliver comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care tailored to each patient's individual needs.

Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition, making timely clinical decisions in a complex environment.

Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care, discharge planning and appropriate referrals.

Supervise, mentor and support Enrolled Nurses, Assistants in Nursing and students in clinical practice.

Advocate for patients and their families while ensuring care is delivered with professionalism, cultural respect and effective resource management.

Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

Selection Criteria

Demonstrated recent clinical experience in critical care nursing in an acute care facility

Demonstrated application of evidence based practice and critical thinking to patient care

Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, delegate, and negotiate with others to deliver quality nursing care

Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology, written and verbal means, and sound interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate with a diverse range of people.
