Job summary

Westmead Hospital's Intensive Care Unit is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Temporary Full Time position up to 15 August 2027. Join a busy, collaborative quaternary ICU team focused on complex patient care and ongoing professional development.

As part of a multidisciplinary unit, you’ll provide safe, person-centred nursing, coordinate care across shifts and use health information systems. Current AHPRA registration and ICU or acute-care experience are essential.

• Recent Intensive Care experience, or relevant acute/critical-care experience.
• Ability to work a rotating 7-day roster.
• Strong interpersonal, organisational and time-management skills.
• Computer literacy and confidence using health information systems.

What you'll be doing

As a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit, you’ll provide safe, person-centred and evidence-informed nursing care while working closely with patients, families and the broader healthcare team. Key responsibilities will be to:

Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate nursing care for patients with complex healthcare needs.

Coordinate and prioritise clinical care across a busy service while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

Communicate effectively with patients, carers and multidisciplinary team members to support positive health outcomes.

Document assessments, care plans, progress and referrals accurately using relevant clinical information systems.

Contribute to evidence-based practice, quality improvement, education and a supportive learning environment.

What you'll bring

Selection Criteria

Recent experience in Intensive Care environment or relevant experiences in an acute/ COU inpatient area as deemed appropriate by WSLHD

Ability to work a rotating 7 day roster to meet clinical demands of busy quaternary Intensive Care Service

Effective interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients

Excellent time management and organisation skills with attention to detail

Evidence of computer literacy and understanding of relevant health related information systems
