Job summary

NSW Health in Blacktown is seeking a Registered Nurse for Forensic Mental Health Services to deliver evidence-based care within a specialist forensic setting. You will work with a multidisciplinary clinical team to support recovery-focused care.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse who has completed a new graduate RN program or experience working as a Registered Nurse
• Experience with acute mental health presentations
• Advanced reasoning skills with ability to work autonomously and in a multidisciplinary team with minimal supervision
• Proven high-level written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and independent professional judgement
• Working knowledge of the NSW Mental Health Act 2007
• Ability to collaborate with consumers and carers regarding mental health care
• Understanding of recovery philosophy and trauma-informed care in Mental Health

What you'll be doing
As a Registered Nurse, you will provide high-quality clinical care that promotes psychological and physical wellbeing, emotional health and recovery. Working closely with clients, families and the multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to safe, coordinated and person-centred care.

Deliver comprehensive, evidence-based mental health assessment, care planning, treatment and evaluation

Build therapeutic relationships and monitor changes in mental health to support timely clinical review

Collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals to coordinate care and achieve individual health goals

Maintain accurate clinical documentation while meeting professional, legal and organisational requirements

Promote health, wellbeing and self-management while contributing to quality improvement and contemporary clinical practice

Registration: Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

Selection Criteria:

Registered Nurse who has completed a new graduate RN program or experience working as a Registered Nurse

Demonstrated experience working with people presenting with an acute mental health problem

Demonstrated advanced reasoning skills with proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team within minimal direct clinical supervision

Proven effective high level written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to exercise independent professional judgement when solving problems

Working knowledge of the NSW Mental Health Act 2007

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with consumers and carers regarding mental health care

An understanding of the recovery philosophy and trauma informed care in Mental Health and the ability to implement these within clinical practice

Current NSW drivers licence
