Job summary

BMD Northcliffe Surf Club on the Gold Coast is seeking a friendly, reliable Reception and Member Services Officer to join our team on a permanent part-time basis. The role focuses on greeting members, assisting with enquiries, and processing memberships.

Shifts are across Thursdays to Sundays with morning and evening hours, and the candidate should be comfortable handling payments and coordinating bookings using Now Book It and SwiftPOS. A supportive hospitality environment awaits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 months experience in a similar role.
• Friendly and welcoming demeanour.
• Clear, professional communication in person and by phone.
• Maintain professional presentation and manners.
• Stay calm and prioritise when multiple customers require assistance.

Reception creates the first and last impression of our Club. The most important part of this position is warmly greeting customers when they arrive, acknowledging them when they leave and remaining attentive to activity around the entrance.

The role can move quickly between quiet periods and several competing customer requests, so you will need to be comfortable prioritising tasks and remaining friendly and composed when the telephone is ringing and customers are waiting for assistance.

About the position

This is a permanent part-time position offering approximately 28–33 hours per week, primarily across Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Shifts will include a mixture of morning, daytime and evening work. Our reception operates from 7:00 am until approximately 9:30 pm or 10:00 pm, depending on the day.

Regular availability across Thursday to Sunday is essential. Applicants must be available for a combination of 7:00am starts and evening finishes.

Key responsibilities

• Warmly greeting customers when they enter and thanking them when they leave

• Assisting members and guests with general enquiries

• Processing new memberships and membership renewals

• Answering incoming telephone calls and directing enquiries

• Making and updating restaurant bookings through Now Book It

• Entering and processing takeaway orders through SwiftPOS

• Monitoring the Club entrance and promptly alerting management to any concerns

• Accurately handling payments and customer information

• Maintaining a professional, tidy and welcoming reception area

• Communicating effectively with Duty Managers and other departments

About you

You will be well suited to this role if you:

• Have a minimum 12 months experience in a similar role

• Are naturally friendly and comfortable welcoming people

• Communicate clearly and professionally in person and over the telephone

• Maintain a professional presentation and manner

• Can remain calm and prioritise when several customers need assistance at once

• Have strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Are reliable, punctual and discreet

• Can work independently while knowing when to involve a manager

• Listen carefully and follow procedures and system instructions

• Are comfortable processing payments and handling personal information

• Work well as part of a broader hospitality and management team

• Are willing to complete all mandatory and on-the-job training

Previous experience in reception, hospitality, hotels, clubs, medical reception or busy customer service environments is essential. Experience with Now Book/SwiftPOS/Tanda/Odyssey Gaming is advantageous, though training will be provided.

A current Queensland RSA and RSG are desirable. The successful applicant must hold or be willing to obtain the qualifications required for the role.
