Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a senior Account Director to lead public-sector sales across ANZ and identify priority APAC opportunities. You will build trusted relationships with government leaders, develop account strategies, and close complex deals that translate AI capabilities into mission outcomes.

You will work with executive and specialist teams to navigate procurement, security, and regulatory requirements, travel regularly within ANZ, and operate with high ownership in fast-changing environments.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in government/public-sector technology sales, business development, consulting, or related fields.
• Direct government experience or extensive work with government customers in sensitive, regulated environments.
• Current Australian Government security clearance or ability to maintain clearance for the role.

Responsibilities

• Own a focused portfolio of ANZ public-sector accounts and select APAC opportunities.
• Build and execute comprehensive account plans mapping priorities, stakeholders, procurement paths, and risks.
• Drive complex opportunities through the full sales cycle from discovery to closure and adoption.
• Lead public-sector customers through AI adoption, translating requirements into OpenAI capabilities.
• Coordinate with Legal, Security, Policy, Global Affairs, and Partners to advance opportunities.
• Maintain accurate pipeline, forecasting, and executive reporting across markets and time zones.
