Job summary

TravelXchange International Pty Ltd is seeking a Duty Manager for Willunga Hotel, a heritage pub in South Australia. You will oversee the hotel on shift, lead the front-of-house team, and ensure service and presentation standards across bars, dining, gaming, functions and our beer garden.

We value reliability, staff leadership, calmness under pressure and willingness to train others. Flexible to full-time or high-hours casual, with owners providing hands-on support.

About the role

This is a hands-on position working across all areas of a busy country hotel — bars, dining, gaming, functions and our beer garden.

As Duty Manager, you'll be responsible for the hotel while on shift in a hands on capacity. You'll be part of the team, serving customers, helping staff and making sure the hotel runs the way it should.

The role includes:

• leading the front-of-house team during service
• opening and closing the hotel
• bar, dining and gaming operations
• cash handling and end-of-shift procedures
• maintaining service and presentation standards
• dealing confidently with the everyday issues that come with running a pub
• helping train and support other staff
• contributing to functions, events and promotions
• working with us to continue improving how the hotel operates
• dealing with customer complaints

There is also plenty of scope for greater responsibility for someone who wants it.

Who we're looking for

We're fairly open-minded about experience.

You may already be an experienced Duty Manager or Assistant Manager looking for a good long-term position.

Alternatively, you might be an experienced bar or hospitality person who has reached the point where you're ready to take on more responsibility. If you've got the right attitude and ability, we're prepared to help you develop into the role.

More than anything, we're looking for someone who is:

• reliable and comfortable taking responsibility
• good with customers and staff
• calm when things get busy
• willing to lead by example and get involved
• organised and able to make sensible decisions
• familiar with the realities of hospitality, including nights and weekends
• interested in being part of a business rather than simply filling shifts

You will need the appropriate RSA, Responsible Person and gaming qualifications for the role. If you're the right person but don't currently hold everything required, we're happy to discuss helping you obtain the necessary qualifications.

For the right person, we're open to either full-time employment or a high-hours casual role, with hours, responsibilities and remuneration based on experience.

You'll be working directly with owners who are experienced hands-on publicans. We understand what a busy Saturday night looks like and are there to provide support.

The Willunga Hotel is a 158-year-old heritage pub in one of South Australia's great food and wine regions. We have a restaurant, multiple bars, gaming, a large beer garden and a growing functions and events business.

We're ambitious about where we're taking the hotel, but we're still a family-run country pub at heart.
