Job description

The Project Officer Bus Stop Infrastructure plays a key role in the delivery of the Public Transport Authority’s Bus Stop Accessibility Works Program, Bus Shelter Subsidy Program, and other bus stop and roadside infrastructure initiatives across the Transperth system, regional towns, and school bus services.

Reporting to the Senior Project Officer Bus Stop Infrastructure, you will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of an ongoing program of works involving upgrades to passenger boarding areas, installation of bus shelters, and minor civil construction works such as footpaths, pedestrian pram ramps, bus embayment, and turnaround facilities. You will work closely with external and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and in line with operational and accessibility requirements.

A strong customer service focus underpins this role. You will investigate and recommend new or relocated bus stop locations, participate in site visits and stakeholder meetings, and help resolve sensitive community enquiries and disputes relating to bus stop placement and infrastructure design.

This role suits a practical, organised project officer who enjoys working at the intersection of infrastructure delivery, customer outcomes, and accessibility.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will:

• Demonstrate sound experience or understanding of public bus service operations, roadside infrastructure requirements, road traffic considerations, or accessibility standards for people with disabilities.
• Have a well-developed ability to engage constructively with contractors, government agencies, and the community, including managing sensitive and complex enquiries.
• Bring solid analytical and problem-solving capability, with the ability to assess infrastructure issues and recommend practical, compliant solutions.
• Possess strong computing skills, including the use of spreadsheets, databases, and system-based tools to support auditing, analysis, and reporting activities.

There is currently one fixed term opportunity until 1 October 2027 available for an immediate start with the possibility of renewal. Applicants assessed as suitable through this process may also be considered for similar vacancies on a fixed term or permanent basis that may arise within the next 12 months.
