Job summary

Department of Transport and Main Roads QLD – Cairns QLD is seeking a Program Officer (Procurement) to support the Regional contribution to QTRIP, delivering projects and programmes that benefit communities across Queensland.

You will provide procurement expertise, partner with project managers, and contribute to end-to-end procurement processes while ensuring compliance with departmental policies and governance requirements.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of procurement principles, policies and procedures, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Experience using business, finance or project management systems. SAP and 3PCM, or similar systems, is desirable.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.
• Effective communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• A commitment to customer-focused service and compliance with procurement requirements.

• Provide timely and accurate procurement advice and support in line with departmental frameworks.
• Deliver procurement activities and assist stakeholders with procurement processes and requirements.
• Undertake end-to-end procurement activities, including planning, documentation, evaluation, negotiations, contract administration and supply arrangements.
• Support clients to achieve procurement outcomes that align with business objectives.
• Monitor procurement performance, identify risks and opportunities, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Department of Transport and Main Roads QLD – Cairns QLD

As a Program Officer (Procurement), you will support the Region's contribution to the Queensland Transport and Road Investment Program (QTRIP), helping deliver projects and programs that benefit communities across Queensland.

Working within a collaborative regional team, you will provide procurement expertise and support across a range of activities. Partnering with program and project managers, you will contribute to the delivery of end-to-end procurement processes that support the successful planning, delivery and management of transport infrastructure projects.

This is an excellent opportunity to apply your procurement knowledge in a dynamic environment, delivering value-for-money outcomes and supporting essential infrastructure. You will build strong stakeholder relationships, provide practical advice, identify opportunities for improvement and ensure procurement activities comply with departmental policies, procedures and governance requirements.

In this role, you will:

To be successful, you will demonstrate:

Mandatory requirements:

A criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment due to access to sensitive information.

There are no mandatory qualifications; however, Level 1 and Level 2 Queensland Procurement Certification Program qualifications would be advantageous.
