Job summary

The Department of Transport and Main Roads QLD – Cairns invites applications for a permanent Project Engagement Advisor to join the Customer and Stakeholder Management team in North Queensland. You will provide strategic community and stakeholder engagement advice to support QTRIP projects, including media relations and issues management.

Mandatory qualifications include a Class C driver licence and Australian work eligibility; preferred are tertiary communications qualifications and IAP2

Qualifications

• Current holder of a Class C driver licence.
• Must be eligible to work in Australia.
• Pre-employment check of serious discipline history.

Responsibilities

• Providing strategic engagement advice and support to the District Director, project managers and other staff on community and stakeholder engagement, issues management and risk assessment.
• Coordinating community and stakeholder engagement for QTRIP projects, including developing and implementing communication and engagement strategies.
• Researching and preparing project engagement materials, media enquiry responses, media releases, executive correspondence, briefing materials and reports.
• Planning and coordinating communication activities such as community events, road openings, roadshows, displays, media opportunities and other engagement activities.
• Building strong, customer-focused relationships across business areas and supporting best-practice communication and engagement service delivery.

An exciting permanent opportunity is available for a Project Engagement Advisor to join the Customer and Stakeholder Management team in North Queensland Region, based in Cairns.

In this role, you will provide strategic community and stakeholder engagement advice and support the delivery of Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program projects across the region.

As Project Engagement Advisor, you will contribute to the efficient delivery of the North Queensland Region's Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP) by providing strategic advice on community and stakeholder engagement, media relations, issues management and stakeholder relationship management.

Key responsibilities

• Providing strategic engagement advice and support to the District Director, project managers and other staff on community and stakeholder engagement, issues management and risk assessment.
• Coordinating community and stakeholder engagement for QTRIP projects, including developing and implementing communication and engagement strategies.

• Pre-employment check of serious discipline history for the recommended candidate(s) as a condition of employment.

Desirable requirements

• Tertiary qualifications in communications or a similar engagement-related discipline will be highly regarded.
• International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) or equivalent training in stakeholder engagement will be highly regarded.
