Job summary

Department of Transport and Main Roads in Central Queensland invites an Advisor (Procurement) to provide professional procurement advice, contract administration and project controls support for regional teams.

Bases in Mackay or Rockhampton; coordinate tender activities, monitor financials, forecasts and reporting while building strong relationships with project managers and suppliers to deliver value for money on major transport infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Experience in procurement, contract administration or project controls.
  • Ability to interpret governance requirements and advise stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with SAP and Excel is highly regarded.

  • Provide procurement advice on sourcing, contract establishment and planning.
  • Coordinate procurement processes, including tenders and evaluations. Support contract administration and project controls across infrastructure and non‑infrastructure projects.
  • Monitor procurement and financial transactions to ensure governance compliance and delegated authorities.
  • Assist budgeting, forecasting, expenditure tracking and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate procurement, contract and project records; identify risks and support sound business decisions.
  • Build productive relationships with project teams, suppliers and stakeholders across the region.

Join Transport and Main Roads as an Advisor (Procurement) and play a key role in supporting the delivery of major transport and infrastructure projects across Central Queensland. Working with project managers, program managers and regional teams, you'll provide procurement advice, coordinate tender and contract activities, support project controls and help ensure projects are delivered efficiently, compliantly and with value for money.

You’ll contribute to financial monitoring, contract administration, forecasting and reporting while building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers. About The Role

As an Advisor (Procurement), you’ll provide professional procurement, contract administration and project controls support to regional business units and project teams. Working closely with project managers, program managers and stakeholders,

You’ll help ensure procurement activities are delivered in line with governance requirements while achieving value‑for‑money outcomes.

You’ll play an important role in supporting project delivery through procurement planning, sourcing activities, contract establishment, financial monitoring and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Provide procurement advice and support on sourcing, contract establishment and procurement planning activities.
  • Coordinate procurement processes, including tender activities, evaluations and contract formation. Support contract administration activities and project controls functions across infrastructure and non‑infrastructure projects.
  • Monitor procurement and financial transactions to ensure compliance with governance requirements and delegated authorities.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, expenditure tracking, reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Maintain accurate procurement, contract and project records. Identify risks, provide practical solutions and support sound business decisionmaking.
  • Build productive relationships with project teams, suppliers and stakeholders across the region.
  • Use systems such as SAP, 3PCM and Microsoft Excel to support financial and procurement management activities.
About You

You will bring experience in procurement, contract administration or project controls within a governance‑focused environment. You’ll be comfortable interpreting policies and procedures, managing competing priorities and providing accurate, practical advice to a range of stakeholders.

We’re looking for someone with strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to build effective working relationships while delivering high‑quality outcomes. Experience with financial management processes and systems such as SAP and Excel will be highly regarded.
