Job summary

AECOM Australia is expanding its Water Infrastructure team to deliver significant water projects across Australia. As Principal Structural Engineer, you will provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and collaborate with clients to deliver high-quality, sustainable outcomes.

You will lead the full project lifecycle from bids to construction support, applying sound engineering judgement while balancing cost and schedule. Hybrid work options are available to support flexible delivery.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering.
• Proven experience in structural engineering, preferably in water infrastructure.
• Experience leading technical delivery and mentoring teams.
• Strong knowledge of Australian structural design standards.
• Experience with SpaceGass and/or Strand7.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Chartered registration (CPEng/RPEQ) is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Deliver structural design solutions for complex water infrastructure projects.
• Lead technical delivery across the project lifecycle from bids to detailed design.
• Balance technical quality with programme and budget using engineering judgement.
• Build trusted client and project team relationships and provide technical advice.
• Support business development with proposals and technical input.
• Mentor developing engineers and grow technical expertise.
