Job description

Public Transport Authority of Western Australia – East Perth WA

We are seeking high‑calibre professionals with proven expertise across a broad and complex environmental landscape, bringing multidisciplinary capability across approvals, compliance, impact assessment, and environmental management. Beyond technical excellence, you will play a key role in fostering a collaborative and high‑performing culture, while embedding environmental management into the planning, delivery and operation of public transport across Western Australia.

As a senior member of the team, you will operate within a diverse and evolving environmental portfolio—engaging across complex stakeholder environments and contributing to projects that require both technical expertise and cultural awareness. You will bring depth of knowledge alongside strategic insight, exercising sound judgement, influencing key decisions, and balancing technical rigour with practical delivery in dynamic and, at times, sensitive contexts. Through your leadership, you will support strong environmental performance and continuous improvement across the organisation.

Success in this role will be underpinned by your ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks, think strategically, influence outcomes, and build strong relationships. If you are a forward‑thinking professional who thrives in complexity and is motivated to deliver meaningful, sustainable outcomes at scale, we encourage you to apply.

About You!
  • Possession of a relevant tertiary qualification in environmental science, environmental management or a related discipline.
  • Proven knowledge and a solid background in scientific, technical and environmental matters, including the interpretation and application of environmental legislation and regulations across project planning, delivery and operational contexts.
  • Relevant practical experience in environmental impact assessment, including the application of environmental and Aboriginal heritage legislation and the successful delivery of associated approvals.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including the ability to engage and coordinate consultancy and contract services, manage and develop staff, and drive performance outcomes.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to provide specialist advice, negotiate and resolve complex issues, and present information clearly through high‑quality written and verbal communication.
