Job summary

Firmus Technologies is seeking a Principal Engineer, Platform to own the engineering platform architecture across public cloud and on-prem data centers in Sydney. You will enable self-service, ensure production readiness, and coordinate with multiple sites to scale to hundreds of GPUs in gigawatt-scale AI factories.

You will lead with a strong background in Kubernetes, IaC, and GitOps, writing code in Go or Python, and drive security and compliance as part of platform delivery.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in platform/infrastructure or software engineering, including 3+ years at principal level
• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform/OpenTofu) and GitOps (Argo CD/Flux)
• Experience running Kubernetes across multiple sites in public cloud and on-prem
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes internals: API server, etcd, networking, storage
• Go or Python proficiency with reusable services and tools

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of the engineering platform and its multi-site management plane
• Lead design reviews and ensure production readiness, security, and scalability
• Enable self-service through API-first design and a unified platform API
• Manage multi-cluster deployments across regions and data centers, with controlled rollouts
• Drive security, cost, and compliance with SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001 controls
