Job summary

Firmus Technologies Pty Ltd. seeks a Principal Engineer, AI Cloud Software to own the Firmus AI Cloud API and the control plane behind it.

You will define the technical direction for the API, control plane, and related tooling to scale to hundreds of thousands of GPUs across sites. Responsibilities include architectural governance, enabling lifecycle management of compute, networking, storage, and Kubernetes resources via a single contract, and ensuring security, observability, and cost

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering, with leadership at principal level or equivalent.
• Experience designing and evolving a public API used by external customers: resource model, contracts, versioning, and compatibility.
• Experience running a multi-tenant control plane across regions or data centers with high scale and reliability.
• Strong written and spoken English; able to communicate with engineers, executives and customers.

Responsibilities

• Own the public API design, contracts, versioning, and compatibility across domains.
• Architect the control plane with regional failover, per-tenant rate limits, and scalable growth.
• Lead design reviews, sign off architecture decisions, and document assumptions.
