Job summary

Firmus Technologies is seeking a Principal Engineer, AI Cloud Software to own the Firmus AI Cloud API and its control plane. You will set the technical direction for how customers provision and run GPU compute across multiple sites, ensuring scale to hundreds of thousands of GPUs.

Responsibilities include designing the public API, architecture two to three years ahead, and leading reviews across teams. This role demands hands-on coding, strong Go/Python expertise, and a focus on security,

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
10+ years in software engineering, including principal level or equivalent.
Has designed and evolved a public API with OpenAPI or gRPC contracts and versioning.
Run a multi-tenant control plane across more than one region or data centre.
Strong Go or Python, infrastructure as code and CI/CD experience.
Clear written and verbal communication in English.

Responsibilities

Own the overall design of the public API: contracts, versioning, identity model, and compatibility.
Define the control plane architecture and plan steps 2–3 years ahead.
Design a resilient, region-aware control plane with per-tenant rate limits and fair queuing.
Lead architecture reviews and ADRs and document decisions.
Write production code for API and control plane components.
Expose compute, networking, storage, and Kubernetes resources via the API.
Implement identity, tenancy, MFA, automated provisioning, roles, and audit trails.
Keep the console/SDKs/CLI/Terraform provider aligned with the API; deliver features as supported capabilities.
Shape the technical roadmap with product teams and external customers.
