Job summary

The EQ Hotel in Perth, WA, is seeking an experienced Assistant People & Culture Manager to join the pre-opening team and help build culture, systems and teams for Perth’s newest luxury hotel.

You will work with the People & Culture Director to support the full employee lifecycle, implement policies, coordinate training and establish robust HR systems before opening, then provide day‑to‑day HR support across all departments.

Qualifications

• Experience as Assistant P&C Manager or HR Advisor in a hotel environment.
• Strong experience in WA hotel operations and hospitality awards knowledge.
• Sound knowledge of Australian employment legislation and Fair Work requirements.
• Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee relations and performance management.
• Excellent administration, organisation and communication skills.
• Experience using HRIS and payroll systems; Tanda experience is highly regarded.
• Flexibility to support a seven‑day hotel operation when required.

Responsibilities

• Support end-to-end recruitment, including advertising, screening, interviews, references and onboarding.
• Coordinate pre‑employment checks, contracts, personnel files and induction.
• Provide first‑level advice to managers on HR policies and workplace matters.
• Assist with employee relations, investigations, performance management and disciplinary processes.
• Support training delivery, engagement initiatives, recognition programs and wellbeing activities.
• Maintain accurate employee records and ensure legal and hotel policy compliance.
• Assist with workforce reporting, HR metrics and payroll‑related documentation.
• Collaborate with operational leaders to ensure effective onboarding and retention.
• Help create a positive, inclusive, service‑led workplace culture from pre‑opening onwards.
