YMCA Victoria is seeking casual pool lifeguards for the 2025-26 summer season at several locations including Warragul Leisure Centre, Drouin Outdoor Pool, and more. You will supervise pools, maintain safety, and educate users on aquatic practices while upholding facility rules.

The role emphasizes strong interpersonal skills, decision-making under pressure, and a commitment to safety for all patrons, including children and families.

Formación

• Must hold or be willing to obtain Aquatic Pool Lifeguard Certificate.
• CPR certification HLTAID009 is required.
• HLTAID011 First Aid is required.

Responsabilidades

• Supervise a large aquatic space and proactively maintain a safe environment.
• Maintain continuous observation of pools and patrons to anticipate issues.
• Educate facility users on safe aquatic practices while enforcing rules.
• Intervene when necessary to ensure patron safety and wellbeing.

• Thorpdale Outdoor Pool

About The Role

As a pool lifeguard, you’ll help provide a safe swimming environment for all centre visitors. You’ll be patient, focused and friendly to keep pool-users informed and safe. Duties of the role include:

• Supervising a large aquatic space while pro-actively ensuring a safe environment in and around the pool area
• Maintaining concentrated observation of pools and patrons to anticipate and respond to problems
• Ensuring facility rules are being obeyed whilst at the same time educating facility users about safe aquatic practices
• Carrying out intervention and preventative action to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patrons, the facility and equipment

This is a casual position with an hourly rate up to $34.96 + Super.

About You

We are seeking motivated, organised and pro-active Lifeguards to come and join the team. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and all facility users.

Other required qualities are:

• Ability to make decisions while under pressure
• Being able to manage conflicts with patrons and users
• Ability to stay alert and vigilant in a repetitive work environment
• Ability to multitask
• Providing excellent customer service for all members and guests
• Experience in the Aquatics and Leisure industry will be highly regarded

Essential Qualifications

• Aquatic Pool Lifeguard Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
• HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
• HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
