YMCA Victoria is seeking casual Lifeguards to provide a safe swimming environment for centre visitors and patrol the pool area with vigilance and patience.

You will monitor patrons, enforce facility rules, and educate users on safe aquatic practices while delivering friendly customer service. Prior lifeguarding and relevant certifications are preferred, with flexible rostering offered across Victorian centres.

Competenze

• Aquatic lifeguard qualification and CPR/First Aid certifications are required.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise large aquatic spaces and maintain safety.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are essential.

About The Centre

You will find something for everybody with a 50 metre lap pool, learners pool and toddlers pool available. Our facilities include a kiosk, BBQ area, children's playground and shaded seating areas for families to enjoy and make a day out!

About The Role

As a Lifeguard, you’ll help provide a safe swimming environment for all centre visitors. You’ll be patient, focused and friendly to keep pool-users informed and safe. Duties of the role include:

• Supervising a large aquatic space while pro-actively ensuring a safe environment in and around the pool area


• Maintaining concentrated observation of pools and patrons to anticipate and respond to problems


• Ensuring facility rules are being obeyed whilst at the same time educating facility users about safe aquatic practices


• Carrying out intervention and preventative action to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patrons, the facility and equipment

This is a casual position with an hourly rate up to $34.96 + Super.

About You

We are seeking motivated, organised and pro-active Lifeguards to come and join the team. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and all facility users. Other required qualities are:

• Ability to make decisions while under pressure


• Being able to manage conflicts with patrons and users


• Ability to stay alert and vigilant in a repetitive work environment


• Ability to multitask


• Providing excellent customer service for all members and guests


• Experience in the Aquatics and Leisure industry will be highly regarded

Essential Qualifications

• Aquatic Pool Lifeguard Certificate (or willingness to obtain)


• HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation


• HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
