Job summary

YMCA Victoria is hiring a Lifeguard for Peter Krenz Leisure Centre in Bendigo. The role focuses on creating a safe swimming environment, supervising the aquatic area, and engaging with pool users to promote safe practices.

The position is casual with pay up to $34.96 per hour plus superannuation and YMCA benefits. Applicants should be motivated, organized and committed to the safety and wellbeing of all patrons.

Qualifications

• Aquatic Pool Lifeguard Certificate is required.
• HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is required.
• HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a large aquatic space and maintain a safe environment for pool users.
• Maintain continuous observation to anticipate and respond to problems.
• Educate facility users about safe aquatic practices and enforce rules.

About the Centre

The Peter Krenz Leisure Centre is owned by the City of Greater Bendigo and proudly managed by the YMCA. The Centre provides a wide range of programs and activities, including Learn to Swim, Group Fitness, Recreational Swimming, Health and Fitness, Stadium and Squash hire. The main goal of the YMCA is to provide opportunities for all people to be more active, more often and help them reach their personal fitness goals. About the role

As a Lifeguard at Peter Krenz Leisure Centre, you’ll help provide a safe swimming environment for all centre visitors. You’ll be patient, focused and friendly to keep pool-users informed and safe. Duties of the role include:

• Supervising a large aquatic space while pro-actively ensuring a safe environment in and around the pool area
• Maintaining concentrated observation of pools and patrons to anticipate and respond to problems
• Ensuring facility rules are being obeyed whilst at the same time educating facility users about safe aquatic practices
• Carrying out intervention and preventative action to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patrons, the facility and equipment

This is a casual position and the hourly rate is up to $34.96 + Superannuation + Y benefits.

About you

We are seeking motivated, organised and pro-active Lifeguards to come and join the team. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and all facility users. Other required qualities are:

• Ability to make decisions while under pressure
• Being able to manage conflicts with patrons and users
• Ability to stay alert and vigilant in a repetitive work environment
• Ability to multitask
• Providing excellent customer service for all members and guests
• Experience in the Aquatics and Leisure industry will be highly regarded
