Job summary

YMCA Victoria is hiring casual Lifeguards to maintain a safe swimming environment across Victoria's pools. You will supervise aquatic spaces, observe patrons, enforce rules, and intervene when needed to protect people, facilities and equipment.

The role emphasises decision-making under pressure, strong customer service, and a commitment to safety for all users, including children and families, with flexible rostering and career growth opportunities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Supervising a large aquatic space while pro-actively ensuring a safe environment in and around the pool area.
• Maintaining concentrated observation of pools and patrons to anticipate and respond to problems.
• Ensuring facility rules are obeyed while educating users about safe aquatic practices.
• Carrying out intervention and preventative actions to ensure safety and wellbeing of patrons, facility and equipment.

About The Role

As a pool lifeguard, you’ll help provide a safe swimming environment for all centre visitors. You’ll be patient, focused and friendly to keep pool-users informed and safe.

• Supervising a large aquatic space while pro-actively ensuring a safe environment in and around the pool area
• Maintaining concentrated observation of pools and patrons to anticipate and respond to problems
• Ensuring facility rules are being obeyed whilst at the same time educating facility users about safe aquatic practices
• Carrying out intervention and preventative action to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patrons, the facility and equipment

This is a casual position with an hourly rate up to $34.96 + Super.

About You

We are seeking motivated, organised and pro-active Lifeguards to come and join the team. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and all facility users. Other required qualities are:

• Ability to multitask
• Providing excellent customer service for all members and guests
• Experience in the Aquatics and Leisure industry will be highly regarded

• Aquatic Pool Lifeguard Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
