Job summary

North West Queensland is seeking a hands-on Parks and Streets Maintenance worker for Roma to uphold presentation standards across parks, open spaces, and town streets. You will handle mowing, weed control, irrigation, pruning, and drainage maintenance while ensuring litter control and street cleanliness in the Roma area.

The role requires a General Construction White Card, a current Driver's Licence, and experience in plant operation, civil construction, horticulture, or local government.

Qualifications

• General Construction White Card is required.
• Current Driver's Licence is mandatory.
• Experience in plant operator, civil construction, horticulture and/or local government is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining parks and open spaces to service level standards including mowing, weed control, irrigation and pruning.
• Slashing, weed control and maintenance around town entrances, cemetery and urban streets.
• Litter control in parks, open spaces and town approaches.
• Maintain gutters and drainage infrastructure for parks and open spaces.
• Mowing of parks, footpaths and pathways; tree maintenance and playground inspections.
• Garden bed and street scape enhancements and maintenance.
• Daily cleaning of Roma's CBD and support for burials and cemetery maintenance when needed.

Maintain the presentation of the Roma's parks and open spaces in line with service level standards, including but not limited to:

• Maintenance of open spaces, parks and gardens, including mowing, weed control /spraying, irrigation, landscaping and pruning
• Slashing, whipper snipping and weed control including town entrance ways and Cemetery
• Litter control in parks, open spaces, and town approaches
• Maintenance of gutters and drainage infrastructure for parks & open spaces
• Mowing of parks & open spaces, footpaths and pathways
• Tree maintenance
• Inspection of park infrastructure i.e., playgrounds
• Garden beds and street scape enhancements and maintenance

Urban Streets, Drainage, & Footpaths

Maintain the presentation of the Roma township area in line with service level standards, including but not limited to:

• Slashing, whipper sniping and weed control around urban streets including town entrances
• Litter control in urban streets and town approaches
• Maintenance of culverts, gutters and drainage infrastructure
• Maintenance of long drains and vacant land
• Daily cleaning of Roma's CBD
• Street tree maintenance
• Assistance with the delivery of burials and cemetery maintenance

Suitable applicants will have:

• General Construction White Card
• Current Drivers Licence
• Experience in plant operator, civil construction, horticulture and/or local government

About the Candidate

The preferred candidate must have the legal right to work in Australia and will be required to undertake a Criminal History Check and a pre-employment medical assessment to assess their ability to perform the genuine occupational requirements of the position.

Work Environment

• Permanent, Full-Time Positions - 38hours per week
• Entitled to Maranoa Locality Allowance - $72.00 Per Fortnight
