Job summary

Rockhampton Regional Council is seeking a dedicated Roller Operator/Labourer for Mt Morgan. You will help build and maintain rural infrastructure, travelling between sites with a safety‑first mindset and a collaborative team approach.

The role requires operating a road roller, holding an MR licence (HR desirable), and a Certificate of Competency with hands‑on mobile plant experience. Training and development opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience operating a Road Roller in rural settings with an unrestricted MR Class licence (HR desirable).
• Demonstrated attention to detail, organisation and problem solving.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team.
• Identify, report and resolve safety hazards to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
• Certificate of Competency and hands-on experience operating mobile plant.
• Experience using hand tools (spanner, wire brush, level, measuring tape, line sprayer).

Responsibilities

• Operate a Road Roller and contribute to rural infrastructure maintenance.
• Assist in civil construction and maintenance across multiple sites and travel between locations.
• Maintain safety standards and complete tasks with quality and accuracy.
• Support team with equipment checks, repairs, and tooling needs.

Synopsis:

Roller Operator/Labourer

• Permanent / Full Time
• Monday to Friday, 76 hours per fortnight, 9-day fortnight
• $74,957 - $77,483 per annum (LGIA Stream B Level 3-5 (Depending on qualifications and experience) + Site) + Superannuation
• Location – Mt Morgan

Help build and maintain the infrastructure that keeps our rural communities connected.

Council is seeking proactive, reliable, and safety-focused individuals to join our Rural Operations Team. Whether you are an experienced Roller Operator or someone eager to learn and develop new skills, we encourage you to apply.

In this hands‑on role, you will contribute to the delivery and maintenance of essential regional infrastructure across a variety of rural work sites. You will work closely with a supportive team, undertaking a range of civil construction and maintenance activities while travelling between locations throughout the region.

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

What we are looking for

• Experience operating a Road Roller, working in rural areas and an unrestricted “MR” Class licence (HR desirable).
• Demonstrated attention to detail, organisation, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team.

• Certificate of Competency and hands on experience operating mobile plant
