Job summary

Cleanaway Waste Management is seeking a skilled Mobile Plant Operator to join the Deer Park Landfill team in Melbourne. You will operate heavy equipment such as dozers, compactors, wheel loaders and moxy trucks, perform tip face operations and ensure waste placement and compaction follow EPA guidelines.

The role emphasizes safety, teamwork and adherence to operational plans, with potential overtime, weekend work, and a permanent full-time arrangement.

Qualifications

• Two-three of the above plant operator competencies (VOC, RII, etc.) are required.
• Experience operating dozers, compactors, wheel loaders and moxy trucks.
• Good understanding of safety and environmental compliance in landfill/earthworks.
• Ability to work in a team and follow operational plans.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy machinery such as dozers, compactors, wheeled loader and moxy trucks.
• Perform tip face operations including waste placement and compaction.
• Follow plans and EPA guidelines at all times.
• Carry out daily cover operations and mix/apply cover materials.
• Assist with light site maintenance and basic manual handling as needed.

• Excellent hourly rate + Afternoon shift Loading
• Mon to Fri Afternoon Shift + potential OT and weekend work
• Full-time Permanent role – Deer Park Landfill

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a skilled Mobile Plant Operators to join our team at our Deer Park Landfill site. This hands‑on role is ideal for someone experienced with heavy machinery and keen to contribute to essential waste operations that support the local environment. Some of the responsibilities are as below.

• Operate machinery such as dozers, compactors, wheeled loader, and moxys
• Perform tip face operations including waste placement and compaction
• Responsible for following plans and EPA guidelines
• Carry out daily cover operations, including the mixing and application of cover materials
• Conduct basic site maintenance and assist with light manual handling tasks when required

About You

• A valid plant operator ticket or equivalent competency of at least two-three of the above (VOC, RII, etc.)
• Proven experience operating dozers, compactors, wheel loader, and moxy trucks
• Good understanding of safety and environmental compliance in a landfill or earthworks setting
• Ability to work well in a team and follow operational plans
• Previous experience in landfill operations or waste industry will be advantageous
• HR Licence will be beneficial
