Organisation
Our client is a well-established and highly regarded organisation within the education sector, recognised for its commitment to excellence, professional development and a supportive, people-focused culture.
With a strong sense of community and a collaborative working environment, the organisation is seeking an experienced People & Culture Advisor to join its HR team and provide high-quality operational and advisory support.
Role
Reporting to the Head of People & Culture, you will play a key role in supporting day-to-day HR operations and delivering practical HR advice across the employee lifecycle.
This is a hands-on, varied opportunity suited to an experienced HR Coordinator ready to step into an advisory position, or an established HR Advisor who enjoys combining operational HR responsibilities with stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-level HR advice to managers and employees on policies, procedures, employment conditions and general employee relations matters.
- Coordinate end-to-end recruitment processes, including advertising, shortlisting, interview coordination, reference checks, offers and onboarding.
- Manage employee lifecycle administration, including contracts, employment variations, probation reviews, leave, performance processes and offboarding.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data, prepare reports and support ongoing HR systems improvements.
- Liaise closely with Payroll to ensure accurate employee information, employment changes and timely processing of payroll-related documentation.
- Support HR compliance, policy updates, employee engagement initiatives and continuous improvement projects
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' experience in an HR Advisor, Senior HR Coordinator, HR Officer or similar generalist position.
- Previous experience within an education environment, including independent or public schools, higher education, universities or other education providers. (Preferred)
- Exposure to enterprise agreements, HR compliance and education-sector employment conditions.
- Experience using ELMO or similar HR information systems.
- Demonstrated experience across recruitment, onboarding, HR administration and the broader employee lifecycle.
- Sound understanding of Australian employment legislation, Modern Awards and HR policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
