Job summary

JBS Australia is seeking a hands-on Payroll Team Leader to guide a high-performing payroll group responsible for weekly and fortnightly payroll cycles across 15,000+ employees and labour hire personnel.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will drive accuracy, compliance and continuous improvement while fostering a positive team culture and delivering exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, mentor and develop a team of 8 Payroll Officers.
• Manage team workloads and payroll schedules to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for 15,000+ employees across operations.
• Review and approve complex payroll transactions, including overpayments/adjustments.
• Act as escalation point for complex payroll enquiries.
• Ensure payroll records and documentation are accurate and compliant.
• Drive process improvements to boost efficiency and service delivery.
• Support payroll system upgrades, testing and optimisation.
• Develop and maintain payroll procedures and work instructions.
• Contribute to recruitment, onboarding and performance management.

About the Role
