Supporting approximately 3,000 to 4,000 contractors across Australia and New Zealand, this is a high volume payroll environment spanning multiple brands and legal entities.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys leading people, solving complex payroll issues and finding better ways of working.

The opportunity

Working within the broader Payroll and Finance function, you will help lead the day to day delivery of accurate, compliant and timely contractor payroll and invoicing services.

What we are looking for

We are looking for an experienced payroll professional who has worked within a high volume and complex payroll environment and is comfortable providing day to day leadership to a payroll team.

Experience within recruitment, staffing or labour hire would be highly regarded, particularly if you have supported contractor or contingent workforce payroll.

We are also interested in candidates from similarly high volume environments, including:

  • Healthcare with large casual or contingent workforces
  • Payroll providers or outsourced payroll environments
  • Blue collar, industrial or labour intensive organisations
  • Logistics or transport businesses with large payroll populations
  • Other complex, multi entity environments operating payroll at significant scale

You will ideally bring:

  • Experience as a Payroll Team Lead, Payroll Supervisor, Senior Payroll Officer or similar
  • Strong experience within high volume payroll
  • Experience leading, coaching or mentoring payroll team members
  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and statutory requirements
  • Experience with payroll reconciliations, controls and reporting
  • Confidence handling complex payroll queries and escalations
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work within payroll deadlines
  • A continuous improvement mindset and an interest in automation and technology
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience with Zendesk, FastTrack, Bullhorn or comparable systems would be advantageous
Why consider this opportunity?

This is an opportunity to join an established payroll function operating at genuine scale while taking on meaningful leadership responsibility.

You will have the opportunity to develop the team, improve processes and systems while contributing to how the function evolves as the broader group continues to grow.

For an experienced payroll professional looking to step further into leadership while remaining close to the operational side of payroll, this offers a strong next step.
