Job summary

JBS Australia is seeking a Payroll Team Leader to oversee a high-volume payroll function supporting 15,000+ employees and labour hire personnel across multiple operations in Australia. You will lead a team of 8 Payroll Officers, drive accuracy, compliance and service excellence.

This hands-on leadership role focuses on mentoring, process improvements, system enhancements and recruitment support, within a large, dynamic organisation that values collaboration and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience leading or supervising a payroll team.
• Extensive end-to-end payroll experience in high-volume environments.
• Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, mentor and develop a team of 8 Payroll Officers.
• Manage team workloads and payroll schedules to ensure timely processing.
• Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for 15,000+ employees across multiple operations.
• Review and approve complex payroll transactions, including overpayments and adjustments.
• Act as escalation point for complex payroll enquiries.
• Ensure payroll records and documentation are accurate and compliant.
• Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, compliance and service delivery.
• Support payroll system upgrades, testing and optimisation activities.
• Develop and maintain payroll procedures and work instructions.
• Contribute to recruitment, onboarding, training and performance management.
• Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and customer service.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, SOX requirements and company policies.
