Job summary

Aligned Search is partnering with a well-established organisation in Liverpool, NSW, to recruit an experienced Payroll Lead. The role is hands-on and involves leading a small offshore payroll team while staying close to the detail.

You will manage weekly, biweekly, and monthly payrolls, ensure compliance with Australian legislation, and drive process improvements across the function, partnering with HR, Finance and operations.

Qualifications

• Experience with Chris21/iChris is essential.
• 3-5+ years' Australian payroll experience within a multi-site environment.
• Strong end-to-end payroll processing experience.
• Solid knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, awards and superannuation.
• Previous experience supervising, mentoring or leading payroll staff.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines.
• Confident stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in end-to-end payroll processing across weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls.
• Manage and support a team of two Senior Payroll Officers based offshore.
• Review and validate payroll outputs, reconciliations and payroll variances.
• Act as the escalation point for complex payroll queries.
• Work closely with HR, Finance and operational stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with Australian legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, superannuation and taxation requirements.
• Support process improvements, SOPs, automation and system enhancements.
• Assist with payroll reporting, audits and broader payroll initiatives.
