Job summary

Paywise is seeking a Payroll Operations Consultant in our Sydney office to manage salary packaging, GST contributions and payment requests for members and employer clients. You will support compliant, high-quality payroll services with a focus on accuracy and customer care.

In this fast-paced role you will handle daily payroll operations, respond to inquiries, process payments and contribute to continuous improvement in service delivery and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Provide phone coverage for employer enquiries and deliver accurate information with timely follow-up.
• Prepare and issue Payroll Deduction Advice and related invoices.
• Allocate salary packaging and GST contributions accurately within service standards.
• Process daily payment batches, EFT and BPAY transactions, and refunds.
• Handle superannuation contributions and general banking activities.
• Respond to email enquiries and support member and employer queries via chat and phone.

This role is based in our office five days per week. As a highly collaborative operational team, we value face-to-face interaction, real-time problem solving and hands-on support, which helps us deliver exceptional outcomes for our members, employers and colleagues.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Payroll Operations Team Leader, the Payroll Operations Consultant plays a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of salary packaging, GST contributions and payment requests for our members and employer clients. This role supports the delivery of high-quality payroll services while maintaining a strong focus on compliance, customer care and operational efficiency.

You will contribute to daily payroll operations, respond to customer enquiries, process payments and support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service delivery and operational performance.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Provide phone coverage, assisting with employer enquiries and communications, and helping to deliver accurate information, timely follow-up and a high standard of customer service across employer interactions.
• Prepare and issue Payroll Deduction Advice and associated invoices.
• Allocate salary packaging and GST contributions accurately and within service standards.
• Process daily payment batches and payment return, including EFT and BPAY transactions.
• Process superannuation contributions and manual refund requests.
• Perform general banking and payment administration activities.
• Respond to email enquiries received via our ticketing system.
• Support member and employer queries through phone, email, chat and other communication channels.

• Confidence working across multiple systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• The ability to manage deadlines and priorities work effectively.
• A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to team success.
• A commitment to compliance, quality and continuous improvement.

Highly Regarded

• Experience within salary packaging, payroll or related financial services environments.
• Knowledge of Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) and GST administration.
• RG146 Tier 2 in Deposit Products and Non-Cash Payment Facilities.
• Qualification in Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
