Job summary

Sigma is seeking a junior payroll assistant in Sydney, Australia, to support payroll processing within a collaborative team. You will focus on accuracy, learn end-to-end payroll workflows, and develop your skills in a supportive environment.

The role is ideal for someone with payroll exposure who is eager to learn, adapt to Australian payroll legislation, and grow within the payroll function. An onsite, team-oriented workplace with growth opportunities is available.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a payroll or payroll administration role.
• Exposure to processing payroll, ideally in an end-to-end environment.
• Basic understanding of Australian payroll legislation, including PAYG, superannuation and Fair Work.
• Experience with payroll systems; Employment Hero experience would be highly regarded.
• Strong attention to detail and a focus on accuracy.

• Support payroll processing tasks and assist with payroll reconciliations as needed.
• Learn and develop payroll knowledge within a supportive team environment.
• Respond to employee queries with a customer-focused approach and maintain data accuracy.

The Role

You'll ideally have some payroll experience and be looking to take the next step in your career. This could be a great opportunity for someone who has had exposure to payroll processing and is keen to continue building their knowledge in a supportive team environment.

We're looking for someone who is organised, detail-focused and eager to learn, with a genuine interest in developing their payroll skills.

• Previous experience in a payroll or payroll administration role
• Exposure to processing payroll, ideally in an end-to-end environment
• Basic understanding of Australian payroll legislation, including PAYG, superannuation and Fair Work
• Experience with payroll systems; Employment Hero experience would be highly regarded
• Strong attention to detail and a focus on accuracy
• Comfortable working with numbers and payroll data
• Good Excel skills and confidence working with spreadsheets
• Ability to assist with payroll reconciliations and checking payroll data
• Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach when responding to employee queries
• Highly organised and able to meet payroll deadlines and cut-off times
• Someone who is keen to learn, develop and grow their payroll career
• Payroll qualification or relevant study would be advantageous but is not essential
