Mars Recruitment is seeking a Payroll Officer to join our People team, supporting payroll operations across Australia and New Zealand.

You will process end-to-end payroll cycles, maintain data integrity, support system upgrades, and coordinate with payroll providers across global regions to ensure timely, compliant pay.

Qualifications

• End-to-end Australian payroll experience.
• Strong knowledge of payroll compliance and statutory obligations.
• Experience with cloud-based payroll systems.
• Strong Excel, reconciliation, and numerical skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• New Zealand payroll exposure.

Responsibilities

• Process end-to-end payroll across multiple pay cycles (weekly, fortnightly, monthly).
• Provide payroll coverage during team leave periods.
• Maintain and validate payroll and employee data.
• Support payroll system upgrades and data cleanup activities.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and statutory requirements.
• Respond to employee payroll queries in a timely and professional manner.
• Assist with payroll reconciliations, reporting, and audit support.
• Support onboarding of payroll for new business locations.

About the role

You will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely payroll across Australia and New Zealand, while supporting payroll providers across other global regions. You will also contribute to payroll system improvements through data cleansing and system readiness initiatives.

Key responsibilities
