Qualifications

  • Experience with New Zealand payroll requirements is highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax and leave entitlements.
  • Excellent payroll reconciliation and analytical skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Job Description

Reporting to senior leadership, the Payroll Manager will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end payroll function across Australia and New Zealand, while managing and developing a small payroll team., * Lead, manage and develop a small payroll team, providing guidance, support and performance management.

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing across Australia and New Zealand.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of regular payroll cycles.
  • Manage payroll compliance across Australian and New Zealand legislation, taxation, superannuation, leave and employment conditions.
  • Review and approve payroll processing, reconciliations and reporting.
  • Manage payroll-related queries and provide expert advice to employees and stakeholders.
  • Ensure accurate calculation and payment of salaries, allowances, overtime, bonuses, deductions and leave entitlements.
  • Oversee payroll reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage payroll year-end activities, including payment summaries and relevant statutory reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax and other statutory obligations.
  • Partner with HR, Finance and other key stakeholders on payroll-related matters.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, systems and controls.
  • Support payroll system upgrades, enhancements and implementation projects where required.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure payroll data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Develop and maintain payroll procedures, documentation and process controls.
  • Provide payroll reporting and insights to senior management.
About the Candidate

This is a hands-on leadership position that will suit an experienced payroll professional who enjoys leading a team while remaining actively involved in payroll operations, compliance, process improvement and stakeholder management., We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager or Senior Payroll professional who has demonstrated experience managing payroll across Australia and New Zealand.

You will have:
  • Proven experience managing payroll functions.
  • Experience managing or mentoring a small payroll team.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
  • Experience with New Zealand payroll requirements highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax and leave entitlements.
  • Excellent payroll reconciliation and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Experience working with payroll systems and HRIS platforms.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict payroll deadlines.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to confidently resolve complex payroll issues.
  • High level of integrity and discretion when dealing with confidential employee information.
