Job description

We are looking for a reliable and motivated Pastry Cook to join our team at Island Pies.

The role involves preparing our range of pies, pastries and cakes while maintaining a clean, organised and efficient kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

Key Duties

• Prepare pie tops and pie bottoms

• Prepare and make pie and pastry fillings

• Prepare and make cakes, slices and other baked products

• Prepare and handle pastry and other ingredients

• Refill and maintain the pie warmer throughout business hours

• Monitor and rotate stock using FIFO principles

• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene and food safety standards throughout the kitchen

• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and work areas

• Assist with general kitchen duties and production as required

• Work efficiently to meet daily production requirements

Skill & Experience

Previous experience as a Pastry Cook, Baker, Cook or in a commercial bakery/kitchen

Certificate III or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, Patisserie or a related qualification is preferred

Experience making pies, pastry, fillings, cakes and slices is highly regarded

1-2 years of relevant industry experience preferred

Good knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Good attention to detail and pride in your work

Reliable, punctual and responsible

Comfortable with early morning starts

Able to work efficiently in a busy production environment
