Job summary

Crowne Plaza Hobart is seeking a motivated part-time Commis Chef to join our Culinary Team. You will help prepare and present high-quality dishes across our dining outlets, in-room dining and banqueting.

Based in Hobart, you will work with experienced chefs, follow recipes and hygiene standards, and adapt to a fast-paced hotel kitchen environment. Flexible roster including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Qualifications

• Experience in a fast-paced commercial kitchen, hotel/restaurant or high-volume catering desirable.
• Basic food preparation, cooking and presentation skills with a willingness to learn.
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene, allergen management and workplace safety requirements.
• Ability to follow instructions, manage tasks and stay organised during busy service periods.
• Cert III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Positive, collaborative approach aligned with IHG brand standards and values.
• Flexibility to work rotating rosters, including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays; based in Hobart or willing to relocate.
• Australian working rights required; employer visa sponsorship not available.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation, cooking and presentation of high-quality dishes across our outlets, following standard recipes and mise en place.
• Work closely with chefs and F&B colleagues, assist across kitchen sections as required, and contribute to memorable dining experiences for guests.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workspace; store and rotate food correctly; minimise waste; follow food safety and hygiene procedures.
