Crowne Plaza Hobart, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, is seeking a motivated part-time Commis Chef to join our Culinary Team. This role offers a great opportunity to develop skills while preparing and presenting high-quality dishes across diverse dining outlets.

You will work under experienced chefs, support multiple kitchen sections, and contribute to memorable dining experiences for guests. A Cert III in Commercial Cookery is required, with flexible rosters and Australian working rights essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a fast-paced commercial kitchen, with hotel, restaurant, banqueting or high volume catering experience desirable.
• Basic food preparation, cooking and presentation skills, with a genuine interest in learning and building your culinary career.
• An understanding of food safety, hygiene, allergen management and workplace safety requirements.
• The ability to follow instructions, manage assigned tasks and remain organised during busy service periods.
• Cert III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent recognised cookery qualification.
• A positive, collaborative approach aligned with IHG brand standards, service culture and values.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including mornings, evenings, weekends, public holidays and peak business periods.
• Based in Hobart or willing to relocate.
• Applicants must already hold valid Australian working rights. Please note that employer-sponsored visa arrangements are not available for this position.

Responsabilités

• Culinary Operations & Service – Support the preparation, cooking and presentation of high-quality dishes across our a la carte, in-room dining, banqueting and event operations, following standard recipes and portion guidelines while completing mise en place and assigned tasks efficiently.
• Teamwork & Guest Experience – Work closely with chefs and F&B colleagues, assist across kitchen sections as required, and contribute to memorable dining experiences for every guest.
• Kitchen Standards & Compliance – Maintain a clean, safe and organised workspace, store and rotate food correctly, use supplies and equipment responsibly, minimise waste, and follow food safety, hygiene, allergen and workplace safety procedures.
