Job summary

Sydney Eye Surgeons in Sydney invites applications for a full-time Ophthalmic Technician and Medical Receptionist. The role blends specialised diagnostic testing with front-desk administration in a busy ophthalmic practice across Bondi Junction, Hurstville and Miranda.

You will perform OCT, retinal imaging and visual field testing, prepare patients, manage bookings and liaise with hospitals and optometrists. Training is provided and opportunities for development abound.

Qualifications

• Experience in medical reception, healthcare, optical services, allied health, customer service is highly regarded but not essential.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to travel between Bondi Junction, Hurstville and Miranda.

Responsibilities

• Perform specialised ophthalmic diagnostic testing, including OCT, retinal imaging and visual field testing.
• Prepare patients for consultation and assist with patient work ups.
• Follow established clinical protocols and respond to routine patient questions.
• Assist with minor procedures and clinical room preparation.
• Maintain clinical equipment, examination rooms and infection control standards.
• Provide general medical reception and patient service support.
• Manage appointments, patient bookings and records.
• Prepare basic surgical quotations and coordinate procedure bookings.
• Liaise with hospitals, general practitioners, optometrists and other healthcare providers.
• Process patient correspondence and documentation.

We are seeking a full time Ophthalmic Technician and Medical Receptionist to join our growing team. This dual role combines specialised patient care, ophthalmic diagnostic testing and medical administration.

Working alongside Ophthalmologists, Orthoptists, Optometrists and experienced support staff, you will receive comprehensive training while developing valuable clinical and administrative skills in a specialist healthcare environment.

The role is expected to be approximately 50% clinical and 50% administrative, although responsibilities may vary according to operational requirements.
