Job summary

Salter Brothers Hospitality is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead two boutique luxury hotels in the Hunter Valley. You will report to the Regional General Manager and guide Heads of Department to deliver outstanding guest experiences and strong commercial outcomes.

This hands-on role requires driving service standards, staff development and operational excellence across Rooms Division and F&B, with a focus on profitability and guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Operations Manager or similar senior operational leadership role within luxury hospitality.
• Strong exposure to Rooms Division and Food & Beverage operations.
• Proven ability to lead, develop and motivate multidisciplinary teams.
• Sound commercial acumen with labour costs, budgets and forecasting experience.
• Understanding of revenue optimisation and delivering commercial outcomes.
• Hands-on leadership style with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.

Responsibilities

Salter Brothers Hospitality is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our leadership team in the Hunter Valley.

This is a hands-on leadership role for a hospitality professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about exceptional guest experiences, team development and operational excellence.

Supporting our portfolio of two boutique luxury hotels in the region, you will report directly to the Regional General Manager and provide leadership, guidance and support to Heads of Department and their teams. As Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day leadership of the business, ensuring departments work collaboratively to deliver exceptional guest experiences and strong commercial outcomes. Leading from the front, you will coach and develop leaders, foster a positive and high-performing culture, and drive operational excellence across all areas of the hotels.

The role and key duties;

Lead day-to-day operations across our two Hunter Valley properties, ensuring exceptional guest experiences and consistent delivery of luxury hospitality standards.

Provide hands-on leadership, coaching and support to Heads of Department, fostering a high-performing and engaged team culture.

Drive operational excellence through the implementation, review and continuous improvement of service standards, systems and procedures.

Support the achievement of commercial objectives through effective labour management, cost control, forecasting and revenue optimisation.

Monitor property performance, analyse business results and identify opportunities to improve efficiencies, guest satisfaction and profitability.

Maintain compliance with workplace health and safety, food safety, licensing and company policies and procedures.

Support the Regional General Manager in delivering strategic business initiatives, projects and operational priorities.

Build strong relationships with guests, local businesses and industry partners to enhance the profile and reputation of our Hunter Valley portfolio.

Essential criteria required to be considered;

Previous experience as an Operations Manager, Hotel Manager, Executive Assistant Manager or similar senior operational leadership role within a luxury, boutique hotel or resort environment.

Strong exposure to both Rooms Division and Food & Beverage operations.

Demonstrated experience leading, developing and motivating multidisciplinary teams.

Sound commercial acumen with experience managing labour costs, departmental budgets, forecasting and operational reporting.

A strong understanding of revenue optimisation, productivity management and delivering commercial outcomes.

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and service standards.

Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.

A hands-on leadership style with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.

Passion for hospitality, guest experience and creating a positive team culture.

Current RSA certification or ability to obtain.

Willingness to tackle every aspect of the business with a hands-on approach and a positive attitude.
