Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
DSE Transport is seeking an Operations Coordinator to join our Sydney metro team. Based at Minchinbury, you will support the afternoon shift by moving jobs, tracking drivers, updating customers and ensuring nothing is left hanging at day end.
You will also help with planning for the following day and maintain accurate notes, bookings, and driver availability in our transport system. A calm, precise communicator is essential in a fast paced environment.
DSE Transport is an Australian owned transport company running metro, linehaul and interstate freight out of Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. We have grown quickly over the last two years and we are adding to the Sydney operations team.
This is a 9am to 6pm role, Monday to Friday. If you have worked in transport you will know how rare that is. You get the back half of the day, the busy part, without the 5am alarm.
You will sit on the Sydney metro operations desk at Minchinbury, reporting to the Branch Manager and working alongside our allocators. You are the person keeping the afternoon moving: jobs going out, drivers tracked, customers updated, and nothing left hanging at the end of the day.
There is a planning side to it as well. Part of the afternoon is setting up the following day, so the morning starts clean instead of chaotic. If you like organising things, and being organised, that part of the job will suit you.
Allocating customer jobs to drivers and tracking them through the day
Answering calls and emails from customers and drivers, with a 15 minute response standard
Watching unassigned jobs and keeping runs on schedule
Keeping job notes, bookings and driver availability accurate in our system
Chasing outstanding runsheets and paperwork so the admin team can bill cleanly
Daily compliance and fatigue checks
Logging customer service issues, delays and breakdowns before you go home
Covering the allocators when they are on leave
Some experience in transport, logistics, freight forwarding, warehousing or dispatch. You do not need to have run a desk on your own, but you should know what a runsheet and a POD are
The ability to stay calm with a phone in one hand and three jobs to move
Clear, direct communication. Our drivers are subcontractors and employees from a lot of different backgrounds, and being easy to deal with matters
Accuracy. In this business a wrong address or a missed note costs real money
Comfort with software. We built our own transport management system and driver app, so you will not be working off a whiteboard and a spreadsheet
9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. No weekend roster, no 5am starts
A close-knit team that will train you and share what it knows. Culture is the reason people here took the job, and the reason they stay
KPI bonuses, staff and driver engagement events through the year, and a gym on site
A clear step up. The Operations Coordinator role is the next rung and we would rather promote than advertise
We invest properly in our systems. Live GPS, an electronic POD app, automated compliance, and we build it in house
Onsite parking at Minchinbury, minutes from the M4 and M7
A business that is growing, so there is more coming, not less
You must have full working rights in Australia. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for a phone screen.
