Job summary

Queensland Rail is seeking a Customer Service Attendant (Relief) for Rockhampton on a temporary full-time basis. You’ll work on Spirit of Queensland or Rockhampton Tilt Train services, often away for about 48 hours.

The role includes onboard service, cash handling, and safety responsibilities, with a pro-rata annual salary and penalties as applicable. You will join a supportive team, participate in comprehensive training, and contribute to a high-standard passenger experience while meeting

Qualifications

• Previous face-to-face customer service experience is preferred.
• Tourism, transport or hospitality context is advantageous.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team.
• Excellent communication with a customer-focused approach.
• Ability to think quickly, manage unexpected situations and remain calm under pressure.
• Sound cash handling skills and attention to detail.
• Safety-minded mindset and adherence to hygiene and safety standards.
• Occasional heavy lifting up to 20 kg.

Responsibilities

• Create a memorable onboard customer experience.
• Deliver food and beverage service, servery/cafe, and trolley service.
• Manage storage, preparation and heating of food and beverage items.
• Perform general cleaning and maintain food hygiene standards.
• Report operational issues to ensure passenger safety.
• Process payments via cash and EFTPOS.
• Support platform duties: assist with enquiries and keep station areas clean.
