Job summary

Queensland Rail in Maryborough West is seeking a dedicated Station Assistant to deliver exceptional customer service and keep station areas clean and safe. The role involves passenger movement, luggage handling, and on-site duties across early to late shifts.

The position requires a MR Licence, strong communication, and a willingness to work within a team while also handling autonomous tasks. On-site training and career progression opportunities are available.

Responsibilities

  • Move passengers between Maryborough and Hervey Bay using the Courtesy Coach
  • Assist with provisioning and de-provisioning supplies on trains
  • Manage luggage check-in and loading with the team
  • Clean and maintain the station, facilities, baggage areas and trains
  • Provide platform announcements and assist with platform management
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to travellers and local community
  • Operate station machinery and equipment
  • Report safety concerns to the Operation Coordinator

Your opportunity

We are seeking a full-time Station Assistant to join our team in Maryborough West.

As a Station Assistant, you will be responsible providing exceptional customer service, completing general cleaning duties and contributing to a positive and safe environment. We are looking for an adaptable individual who has outstanding communication and customer service skills. Previous experience in driving a bus or operating yard machinery is highly desirable.

As a Station Assistant some of your duties will include:
  • Convey passengers between Maryborough and Hervey Bay using Queensland Rail Courtesy Coach
  • Assisting with the de-provision and provision of supplies on train arrival and departure.
  • Working with the team to manage luggage check in and loading procedures.
  • General cleaning and maintenance duties of the station, bathroom facilities, baggage areas, the train and gardens.
  • Providing platform announcements and active platform management.
  • Providing exceptional customer service to travelling customers and the local community - this includes assisting with customer luggage.
  • Operating station machinery and equipment.
  • Reporting any safety concerns to the Operation Coordinator.
Roser/Hours

This is a full-time position which generally works between the hours of 0400 and 2200. You can expect to be on a roster which will include a variety of start and finish times as well as weekends and public holidays, so flexibility is required in this position.

  • Ability to undertake a variety of manual handling tasks including cleaning and lifting of heavy luggage up to 20 kilograms.
  • Previous cleaning experience or admin experience (ticketing or booking of travel).
  • Must have a MR or Higher class Licence
