James Hardie Australia Pty Ltd is seeking an On-Site Mechanical Fitter for our Rosehill Manufacturing plant. You will join a team of tradesmen providing maintenance support to minimise downtime while prioritising safety, quality, and cost.

Day Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:00AM-2:30PM. You will carry out installation, maintenance and inspection of mechanical equipment, collaborate with electricians and engineers to resolve faults, and contribute to continuous improvement projects across a 24/7

Qualifications

• Trade-qualified fitter/machinist/welder with industrial maintenance experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team.
• Commitment to safety and reliable operation of manufacturing plant.
• Good written and verbal communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Carry out installation, removal and maintenance of mechanical equipment (valves, pumps, pipework, rollers, gearboxes, shafts, cutters, chain drives, bearings, guards).
• Perform online and offline inspections and document equipment condition for repair or improvement.
• Investigate faults with electricians/engineers to minimise downtime.
• Undertake workshop tasks including welding, machining and repairs to pallets and trucks.
• Support planning and execution of maintenance activities and escalate risks as needed.
• Contribute to identification, scoping and implementation of improvement projects.
• Ensure manufacturing operations comply with health and safety standards.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, we are in search for an On Site Mechanical Fitter for our Rosehill Manufacturing plant. As a Fitter will join the team of tradesmen providing maintenance support to the manufacturing team, with the goal of minimising machine downtime while having consideration for safety, quality, and cost.
Day Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:00AM-2:30PM

What you’ll do

• Carry out installation, removal, and maintenance of mechanical equipment including valves, pumps, pipework, rollers, gearboxes, shafts, cutters, chain drives, bearings, and machine guards
• Perform online and offline inspections of machinery, documenting equipment condition and recommending actions for repair or improvement
• Collaborate with subject matter experts, electricians, and engineers to investigate mechanical faults while responding safely and efficiently to equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime
• Undertake a variety of workshop-based tasks including welding, machining, equipment rebuilds, and repairs to pallets and trucks
• Partner with the operational team to support the planning and execution of maintenance activities while escalating risks and potential concerns through the appropriate channels
• Contribute to the identification, scoping, and implementation of improvement projects
• Ensure that James Hardie’s manufacturing operations is undertaken in line with the company’s strict health and safety standards

What you’ll bring

• Mechanical trade qualifications – fitter machinist or fitter welder preferred
• Experience working on mechanical maintenance of industrial machinery
• Good problem-solving skills
• Ability to work as part of a wider team to ensure the ongoing safety and reliable operation of the Manufacturing Plant
