Job summary

James Hardie in Queensland, Australia, is seeking a hands-on production operator in a quality-focused manufacturing environment. You will operate concrete mixing, stacking and splitting machines, set up molds, and ensure safety procedures are followed while maintaining production schedules and product quality.

Ideal candidates have QA experience, a forklift license (preferred), strong mechanical aptitude and good communication skills.

• Ability to use computers for data entry and machine operation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

You will have experience and exposure within a manufacturing environment and be open to learn the necessary trade and skills to be successful. At James Hardie, we train and invest in our people to ensure we set you up for success.

What the role involves:

• Operating concrete mixing, stacking and splitting machines
• Setting up and installing molds and other machine fixtures
• Setting grinding and cutting edges
• Carry out work in a safe manner, in accordance with Safety procedures as applicable
• Ensure process efficiencies are achieved and maintained
• Ensure production is in line with the specified production schedule
• Ensure product quality is in accordance with relevant specification and that process checks are performed as required
• Actively participate in improvement projects
• Manual Handling tasks are performed as part of this role
• Be flexible and adaptable with a willingness to embrace shift work
• Complying with all WHS safety practices and procedures

What you will need:

• Previous experience in a quality assurance environment
• Forklift License is preferred
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of safety in the workplace
• Ability to use computers for the entry and retrieval of process data and machine operation
• Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
• All successful candidates will be required to undertake a pre-employment medical including drug & alcohol screening.
